13th September 2026 - Umar Khalid completes 6 years of incarceration in Tihar jail. The mainstream media and much of India may have declared him as a terrorist - but his trial has not even commenced. For a Govt that prides itself on being tough on terror - that is an awfully long time period for not taking any action. Why has the trial against Khalid not started in 6 years? Is the BJP going soft on terror or protecting Khalid? Punishing Umar in an open court would have really been a massive win for the Govt - especially since it claims to have mountains of evidence against him. Why has the Umer Khalid case become a test for Indian Democracy and put the judicial system on trial itself?
