Noida DM IAS Medha Roopam बच जाएंगी? Supreme Court में CJI की फटकार | UP Bulletin
LIVE | UP Bulletin | Uttar Pradesh News | Noida NSA Case | Supreme Court vs UP Administration | Gorakhpur University Protest A series of recent developments in Uttar Pradesh has raised serious questions over police action, administrative accountability, citizens’ rights and the limits of state power. From Noida to Deoria and Gorakhpur, courts have questioned the actions of government officials and police authorities in cases involving students, protests, detention and law-and-order measures. In Noida, the Allahabad High Court cancelled the detention of student Akriti Chaudhary under the National Security Act (NSA) and directed that ₹5 lakh compensation be paid. The court also raised questions over the responsibility of officials, including the Noida District Magistrate. The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to challenge the High Court order in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has also expressed strong displeasure over a notice issued to Greater Noida student Akshat Tripathi, despite an earlier court direction concerning students involved in the CJP protest. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant questioned how such an order could be issued despite the Supreme Court's directions. Meanwhile, the Allahabad High Court questioned the Deoria police over alleged illegal detention and the absence of CCTV footage from the police station. The court directed compensation of ₹65,000 to the petitioners, with the amount to be recovered from the SHO’s salary, while also questioning the accountability of senior police officials. In another major development, a video from Gorakhpur University has gone viral after a police officer was heard warning protesting students that he would deploy enough force to “cool them down.” Students have been protesting since August 25 over issues including student union elections, suspension of students, alleged irregularities in PM-USHА works, examination agency charges and allegations related to tree cutting on the university campus. The Gorakhpur police, however, said that some protesting students allegedly became aggressive and attempted to misbehave with and assault the proctor, following which police intervened and brought the situation under control. What happens when administrative power and citizens’ constitutional rights come face to face? Who is accountable when a court finds government action unjustified? And where should the line be drawn between maintaining law and order and suppressing dissent?
