And almost always, he’s on your YouTube screen – optimistic and dispensing positive advice. In this exclusive conversation with Abhinandan Sekhri, content creator and entrepreneur Ankur Warikoo opens up about privilege, philosophy, influence, and the limits of positivity. It’s a sharp, probing exchange between skepticism and self-belief, between the positive and the negative. Abhinandan begins by acknowledging just how ubiquitous Warikoo has become online, joking about his “winning smile”. But the tone shifts. Warikoo reflects on social privilege with unusual candour: “We come from social privilege… the fact that I was born a male Brahman… grew up in Delhi, I’m fair skinned. These five things set up 99 percent of my life outcome. I’ve done shit in life.” Abhinandan argues that privilege is not universal. Shouldn’t at least some students emerging from Warikoo’s courses be encouraged to confront why “the system is broken” and “this is what I can do to fix it”? From Warikoo’s messaging, he says, he doesn’t see enough engagement with “the ugliness that surrounds us”. He even suggests that if he were training young people, he’d tell them they need “the aggression of a wild dog”. Warikoo disagrees. “I think that people succeed when they are true to themselves… If I found myself saying, ‘Show up every day and be that hustler…’ I will feel like a fake.” The conversation sharpens around negativity and awareness. Abhinandan warns that “we raise a generation of idiots who don't know the world they live in,” unprepared for the inevitable crises ahead. Warikoo clarifies that “awareness is everything”.
